Dawn has been a financial advisor since 1998 where she started her career at Smith Barney and later joined Merrill Lynch and LPL Financial. She joined Lincoln Financial Advisors in August 2012. Prior to moving into financial services, she was an attorney with the Norfolk firm of Breeden, MacMillan & Green. She served on active duty in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1991 to 1995. Dawn graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and the Campbell University School of Law. She is an Associate Member of the Virginia and North Carolina Bars.
Dawn served as President of the boards of the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach and Volunteer Hampton Roads. She was elected in 2012 to serve a three year term representing Virginia on the University of North Carolina Alumni Association. She served on the selection committee for the 2008 "First Citizen of Norfolk." Dawn founded two Girl Scout troops and has served as a leader for over twelve years. She graduated from Leadership Hampton Roads in 1996. Dawn volunteers at her church, Christ & St. Luke's, and daughter’s schools, Maury High School and the Governor’s School for the Arts She serves on the boards of Maury Boosters Association, Maury PTSA & PFLAG of Norfolk Hampton Roads. She served as President of Blair Middle School’s PTA. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Great Bridge Chapter.
Her awards include the Walter E. Hoffman Outstanding Community Service Award in 1998 from the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association, Outstanding Young Woman in America 1997, and the Naval Commendation Medal. Dawn is only person honored twice as the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach's Sustainer of the Year in 2005 and 2007. She was named to Inside Business' first "Forty Under 40"** list in 1999. Dawn was also named an "Outstanding Volunteer" by the Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast in 2009. She lives in Norfolk with her husband, Bob Matthews Finke, and their two daughters, Madison and Julia.
